The Wisconsin Wolfpack organization is proud to announce that defensive back Trey Bell recently signed with the AF1's Chicago Rush for the 2010 season. It will be Bell's second time with the Rush. Bell anchored the defensive backfield of a defense that was the best in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) for ten weeks and finished among the best in the league in 2009. He came on early for the Wolfpack and finished the season with numerous highlight reel interceptions, including a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Rock River Raptors. "We are very happy for Trey," said Wolfpack general manager Peter Kishline. "The Wolfpack organization is a great building block to the next level, and we are excited to see our players have a chance to achieve success in the AF1, CFL, and NFL." Bell began his career at Division 3 national football powerhouse, UW-Whitewater, where he was an All-American and participated in both the Hula Bowl and the Aztec Bowl. He was projected as a mid-round pick in the 2005 NFL draft by ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper. Unfortunately Bell tore his Achilles tendon in pre-draft workouts and his pro football dream took a detour. He committed himself to rehab and was able to catch on with the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League (AFL). Bell spent the 2006 season on the Rush’s practice squad. In 2007, he was signed by the Grand Rapids Rampage of the AFL and opened the season as a starter at defensive back. Unfortunately, Bell yet again tore his Achilles tendon. Bell managed to get healthy enough to return to action in 2008, this time with the Manchester Wolves of the af2. He finished the season in Manchester and was slated to return to the Rampage in 2009 before the demise of the AFL. Kishline, the Wolfpack's defensive coordinator in 2009, knew Bell from their playing days together at Whitewater and was able to secure his services for the 2009 season.
