Former NFL receiver signs with Slaughter |

Hoffman Estates, Illinois — The Chicago Slaughter of the Continental Indoor Football League have reached agreement with former NFL wide receiver, Tony Simmons. Simmons, a Chicago native, played in the National Football League from 1998 through 2002. In 1998, (52nd Pick Overall) Simmons was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Madison by the New England Patriots. During his rookie season, he caught 23 passes for 474 yards and 3 Touch Downs (20.6 yards per catch average). During his three year tenure with the Pats, Simmons played in 38 games, with 56 receptions for 983 yards and 6 TD’s. |

Wildcats announce final tryout |

Wheeling, WV — The Wheeling Wildcats will hold their Final Open Tryout for the 2009 Season on Saturday January 18th 2009 at the Greentree SportsPlex. This will be the final open tryout, and the final opportunity for players to earn a spot on the 2009 Wildcats Training Camp Roster. The Wildcats are scheduled to open Training Camp on February 22nd 2009. "There are several roster spots open for camp this year, and we are hopeful to fill those at our final open tryout on January 18th. Our staff is always looking for a diamond in the rough, and these open workouts provide a great opportunity for overlooked athletes to earn a spot on our roster," commented Head Coach Shawn Liotta. |
